A Mexican Saga… (Deb and JP stuck in Mexico!?!)

January 12th, 2007 · No Comments

How Coach Deb n JP spend their New Years…

Ok, so business trips and “networking” doesn’t always take the traditional form of a group of suits mulling around finger foods trying to make small talk and share what you do in 60 seconds or less.

Check out how your Business Coaches network - island style…

As one business owner on the video commented, “This is networking and rapport building at its BEST!”

Here’s a funny 10 minute video “Mexican Saga” from our cruise to Mexico with a group of Internet Marketers Gone Wild… where we almost didn’t make it back to the boat… or did we? Watch the video and vote whether you think we made it back or not - and how it all worked out.

If you like it - and comment - I’ll upload part 2 so you can see how it all worked out - and enjoy our adventure with us.

Here’s to livin’ the good life!

AND - if you’re one of our friends IN THIS VIDEO… be sure to comment and send your Holas so our readers can meet you and know that we all made it back somehow…

Aloha!
Coach Deb & JP

4 Wheelin on the Beaches of Noosa, Australia

December 23rd, 2006 · No Comments

Here’s a short 5 minute video of clips from our trip down under to promote our new book, Secrets of Online Persuasion.

As you can see, we got a little down time in to live the good life in Australia.

We fell in love with Noosaville, Australia. A quiet little beach town that reminded us of home back on the North Shore of Hawaii - except with waiters with really cool accents! :)

Our highlights of the trip are shared in this 5 minute clip from our trip.

Watch the 5-min video of Deb and JP down under:

Share your comments below - I’d love to hear from you and what your top 3 highlights were from 2006.

Aloha!

Kaaawa Storm - March 1, 2006

March 1st, 2006 · No Comments

Pictures of Kaaawa’s rainy weather this week - the worst rainy storm in over 30 years!

It certainly re-landscaped our backyard in Hawaii. JP always said he wanted a stream in his backyard… well.. this week - he sure got what he wanted. (Be careful what you wish for.)

Lots of flooding with over 24-inches of rain M-F last week - but nothing compares to the Katrina flood, although we were sure thinking and praying for them as we emphathized, while we were sweeping and shoveling hour after hour in order to protect our home. I can’t even imagine what they went through…

You’ll notice that we’re on top of a hill at the base of the mountains and a few hundred yards behind us is a 1,200 foot cliff face with what is normally one beautiful waterfall in heavy rain. Well… last week we had three waterfalls develop and all that water had to go somewhere!

The stream bed that handles all the run off from those waterfalls goes across the back of our property and needed to be monitored and worked on throughout each day. So JP shoveled, while I swept and swept the water away from the entrance to our home offices - which felt like an exercise in futility!

We had a few scary hours when there was some flash flooding, but Thank God we only had minor damage.

No lives lost, but one neighbor in our town completely lost his house, and several others had major flood damage to their homes, if they weren’t on stilts - especially the ones directly across from the ocean.

What a great town of neighbors helping one another get through this. Thanks go to our neighbors who stopped by at THE perfect time… when one of the pools at the top of the mountain must have broken - and all that water came rushing down, crashing through the waterfall path JP dug out to protect our offices downstairs…

All is good - we were safe, and our home held up. Thank God! And Thank our neighbors for pitching in! They kept the rest of the street safe too by helping us direct the water to the run off on the side of our home.

Aloha - What this blog is all about - “Pulp Fiction Style”

September 1st, 2001 · No Comments

Aloha,

Welcome to the personal blog for Deborah Cole & John-Paul Micek.

This is where we’ll share our personal story “Pulp Fiction Style” (as in… backwards, forwards, jumping time all around). We’ll be going “back in time” and pulling out pages from our personal journal to share what our BIG MOVE was like…

our hopes,
our dreams,
our fears,
our tears…

hey! that rhymes ! didn’t even mean to do that either…

For most of our lives (other than a stint in Paris, and Palm Beach) we’ve both been residents of good ol’New Jersey, USA . But, on September 1st, 2001, we seized the day! We sold our home, completed the sale of one last business we were still holding onto, and had a moving sale to sell all of our furniture to make the move of a lifetime.

We packed up our summer clothes, (and a few winter jackets - “just in case” … more on that in a future post) boxed up our books (ok, ok, ok, don’t harp on me here. I gave “some” books away - but a girls gotta have her vices - right?) The good china and our “famous pots and pans” were the last of the boxes loaded on the moving truck that was headed for a boat ride journey - final destination: thousands of miles away… on an island.

Yep! An island. We prepared for our Oct 1, 2001 flight to move 5,987.56 miles away from our home town to the island of Oahu.

Hawaii here we come!

We fell in love with the islands of Hawaii a year ago while we were vacationing for a month (ok, well, there was a little business involved too… but since it was a Date With Destiny week with Tony Robbins - I still count that time as vacation time - so back off with the work-aholic comments… unless you are one too! well then - comment away in the box below - so I know I’m not alone!).

This blog will share the ups, the downs, the joys and the tears of our journey - from personal pages of our journal - to videos of our new backyard - in Hawaii.

We’ll also share the “Business Owner’s Lifestyle” as we share videos from our business trips, with friends from around the world… perhaps you’re one of them - and that’s what brought you here! If so - be sure to comment on the posts where your gorgeous face shows up in our lives.

September 1, 2001 is the day the deal went down.

Pursuing our dreams while leaving everything familiar behind.

We purchased our Beach Front Home in Hawaii, and sold our 3 acre NJ home where we had just spent the last 7 years of our married life, building a life, a business and a home for ourselves.

Believe it or not, it was difficult making that final decision, to leave everything familiar behind, for uncharted waters.

John-Paul had us set up with such a gorgeous inside AND “outside home” as he put his professional landscaping talents to work. We enjoyed complete privacy in what our friends described as “a country-club setting”, nestled in the pristine “country” where open fields were the norm, back in Neshanic Station, New Jersey.

I stood on the deck by our pool, as we signed the paperwork making it official… wondering…

“Are we doing the right thing?”

What lies before us?

Will we love Hawaii as much as we dream?

Or will we long for our “comfortable” life and regret making such a drastic move?

Today begins the adventure of a lifetime! I hope you enjoy the ride with us!
